new years

boy doesn't time fly. 2014 passed in what seems like just a blink of an eye. there were ups and downs, joy and tears. there were tragedies and we still continue to mourn for them. my heartfelt condolences are extended to those affected by the 2014 line of tragedies.

i'm a strong believer of new year goals. last year, i had a few goals, sports related set:

1. achieve a 4h 30 minute timing for a marathon (i managed my pb of 4 hours 14 minutes this year)
2. place in one of the runs (initially i joined the ss2 charity run, to hopefully place because its such a small run. i managed to place 4th. i also managed to place 8th in the new balance half marathon, 9th in the ipoh half marathon, 4th in the newton challenge 15km, and also my team managed to place 1st in the under 26 pacesetter relay run).
3. run at least 5 events (i definitely ticked this. i did ss2 charity run, xterra teaser, xterra, reebok challenge, 2xu run, viper challenge, klscm, powerbar duathlon, ipoh half marathon, maze challenge, pj half marathon, new balance half marathon, allianz pace setter relay and lastly wrapped it up with newton challenge).

this year:

1. run a sub 20 5km
2. achieve my coach's goal of running 3000m in a sub 11 timing
3. run a sub 4 marathon
4. place top 3 in at least one running event (i've only managed 4th place in 2014, hoping to step up in 2015)
5. i'd like to see my career path to be slightly clearer
6. run an international run

here's to having my goals all ticked of by the end of the year.

happy new years everybody. have a glorious new years. we did the Armageddon wod for the new years.and we survived.

x'mas wod with the honeybadgers

christmas is just around the corner and of course the honeybadgers thought apt we do a christmas workout. its like hi, merry christmas, now let me kill you. this workout is based on 12 days of christmas. so u do 1, then 1-2, then 1-2-3, then 1-2-3-4, then 1-2-3-4-5, all the way till 12. you get the picture. we were told to come christmas-y so i brought my gingy headband along.

so the workout for the day was

boy, was the workout tiring. so we started with effectively a 200m sprint. then i did the scaled down version of muscle ups, because i ain't beast enough yet.

the deadlifts, the burpees, the pushups, double unders were a-okay.

this was the kb swings portion. the first two times i did the kb swings were okay. after that on the 9th day, onwards, i felt my arms breaking and i was just super tired.
i really started to feel a little gassed out on the box overs. it was like wow this workout is tough! i kid you not.
the toes to bar portion was also difficult for me because my grip isn't that good. my palms sweat easily and hence i slip easily. on the 12th day, when i finished this, i tell you the joy. i literally just laid down on the floor and didn't want to move.

there is a 40 minute time cap on this workout. i managed to finish this in the nick of time. 39 minutes and 57 seconds. i did db thrusters at the end, 25 thrusters and it just reminded me of how much i hate thrusters. thursters-really not my thing, at all. i thought that was the most painful part of the wod, the thursters, especially because it was at the end of everything.

merry christmas everybody, with love.

saturdays with my xfit familia

my saturdays are always without fail, spent with these awesome-s peoples. i literally spend almost the entire day with them. i try to go as much as possible, provided im outstation with work-ish stuffs. but if not, saturdays are dedicated to functional-ish crossfit-ish training with these peeps. oh and did i mention eating as well.

there are 2 sessions, 10am and 3pm. this week i had something on in the morning, so i went for the 3pm session. if i join the 3pm sesh, the day with these people starts with lunch. our favourite usual is the legendary chillipanmee. so it was fill tummies first, workout later.

we have birthday wods, named in honour of bdays of the honeybadgers (yes that's wad we are called). in honour of beast vinesh and sexysexymatt's birthday, felix concocted the matt/vivi's bday wod-which was quite the killer i have to say. the aftermath of this wod-my traps are aching, i can feel my sore butt, and my quads are pretty much gone now. so *drumrolls*

that's the wod. there is a time cap of 30 minutes on the wod. well, i did the scaled down version of course, because i'm not beast-ess enough.

we always start of with some stretches. and my flexibility is absolute crap! that is me laughing at how absurd the pain was. so unglam.

then the wod begins. starting off with the pistol squats, 16 on each side.

then we hit the front squats.

the pullups i scaled down to rows. there is no way i can do 19 pullups-twice.

then the 88 calorie row. which was painful.

and then we do it one more time. i tell u, the second time round, the front squats were painful to do.

and finish it with 91 kb swings.

i clocked in a time of 27 minutes and 43 seconds. yeps they call me meldiva. that's my name.

now, meet the familia.
